Gorgeous

Gorgeous is an Australian animated film that explores the pressures of body image and the pursuit of beauty. The story follows a character named Hermoine, a modern girl who struggles with feelings of inadequacy. Driven by a malicious internal voice personified as Deirdre the Weird Fairy, Hermoine undergoes various hardships, including disordered eating and painful cosmetic treatments at gyms and beauty salons. After a dangerous encounter with a plastic surgeon, she eventually rejects Deirdre's obsessions to reclaim her self-esteem.

Released on July 21, 1995, this ten-minute production was directed and written by Kaz Cooke. It was produced by Film Australia and Catflap. The voice cast features Judith Lucy as Hermoine and Kris McQuade as Deirdre, with Mick Molloy voicing the surgeon. Additional voices were provided by Lynda Gibson, Tracy Harvey, and Denise Scott. Mark D'Arcy-Irvine and Sharon Connolly served as producers for the project.
