Fullmetal Alchemist: The Sacred Star of Milos follows the Elric brothers, Edward and Alphonse, as they pursue an escaped alchemist whose abilities do not resemble their own. The trail takes them away from Central City to Table City, near the border between Amestris and Creta, where they encounter Julia Crichton, a young alchemist from the valley of Milos. Her people live in poverty and are locked in conflict with the authorities, and the brothers are drawn into a rebellion that has been building for years. The legendary Philosopher's Stone sits at the centre of the struggle.
The film is an animated adventure directed by Kazuya Murata, whose only earlier feature was Don't Lose, Makendo! in 1995. Yuichi Shinpo wrote the screenplay, and the production involved several Japanese companies, including Aniplex, Square Enix and Shochiku. Romi Park and Rie Kugimiya return as Edward and Alphonse, with Maaya Sakamoto voicing Julia and Toshiyuki Morikawa playing the fugitive. The cast also includes Shin-ichiro Miki as Roy Mustang.
Released in Japan in July 2011, the film took in about 8 million dollars worldwide. On IMDb it holds a score of 6.8 from roughly 5,900 votes, and on TMDB it also stands at 6.8, from close to 300 votes, so viewers on both platforms rate it similarly.
