Kung Fu Panda: Secrets of the Masters is a short animated film in the Kung Fu Panda series. When Po and the Furious Five look into the stories behind three celebrated kung fu masters, the warriors Master Thundering Rhino, Master Storming Ox and Master Croc, they learn how those figures earned their reputations. The premise places Po alongside his usual companions, Tigress, Mantis and their teacher Shifu, in an adventure that fills in part of the history of their world.
The short was directed by Tony Leondis, arriving between his earlier features Lilo & Stitch 2: Stitch Has a Glitch and Igor and his later film The Emoji Movie. The screenplay is by Todd Berger and Paul McEvoy, and the voice cast includes Jack Black as Po, Angelina Jolie as Tigress, Seth Rogen as Mantis, Dustin Hoffman as Shifu, Randall Duk Kim as Oogway and Dennis Haysbert as Ox. Released in late 2011, it runs about twenty-four minutes and was produced by DreamWorks Animation, tying into the home release of Kung Fu Panda 2.
The film has drawn modest ratings from viewers, sitting at 6.8 out of 10 on IMDb across roughly five thousand votes and 6.5 out of 10 on TMDB from a few hundred votes. That pattern suggests a reasonably well-liked but not widely seen entry, which fits a short companion piece rather than a theatrical feature.
