Devara: Part 1

Devara: Part 1 is an Indian action drama set in a coastal region, where a fearless man named Devara takes on the dangers of the sea to protect his community. His brother Bhaira is secretly working against him, and the conflict between the two shapes the story. The film also follows Devara's son Varada, a gentle and timid young man who inherits his father's legacy, with N.T. Rama Rao Jr. playing both roles.

Koratala Siva directed and wrote the screenplay, working with producers Sudhakar Mikkilineni, Kosaraju Harikrishna and Kalyan Ram. The large ensemble cast runs to thirty credited performers and includes Saif Ali Khan as Bhaira, alongside Prakash Raj, Srikanth, Kalaiyarasan and Shruti Marathe. Made on a budget of about 32 million USD, the film earned roughly 54 million USD worldwide.

Audience response has been moderate. On IMDb it holds a rating of 6 out of 10 from around 23,000 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 6.8 out of 10 from about 225 votes. Both figures point to a film that drew a large audience and a divided reaction rather than unanimous praise. It runs 175 minutes and was released on 26 September 2024, the first instalment of a planned story.
