Geek Charming

Geek Charming centers on Dylan Schoenfield, a wealthy and popular high school student at Woodlands Academy in Los Angeles who is determined to be named Blossom Queen, and Josh Rosen, a film-obsessed classmate who needs a subject for a documentary he is making for a school film festival. When Dylan's expensive handbag ends up in a shopping mall fountain, Josh retrieves it and asks her to appear in his project about popularity in return. She agrees, expecting the exposure to help her standing at school, while Josh intends a serious look at how social status works. As filming continues, each begins to see the other differently, and Dylan's position among her popular friends comes under strain.

The 2011 television movie was directed by Jeffrey Hornaday, whose later credits include Teen Beach Movie and Teen Beach 2, from a screenplay by Hilary Galanoy and Elizabeth Hackett. Sarah Hyland plays Dylan and Matt Prokop plays Josh, with Vanessa Morgan, Sasha Pieterse, Lili Simmons and Andrea Brooks among the supporting cast of 23 credited performers.

Audience response has been modest but favorable: on IMDb it holds a 6.3 rating from around 15,000 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 6.7 from roughly 800 votes. The higher TMDB figure reflects a smaller, more self-selecting group of viewers.
