In 1618 Porto, the Inquisition keeps up its persecution of Portuguese Jews by sending Visitador Sebastião Noronha to the city. As the authorities press the population to denounce heresy and tension between the courts and the visiting Inquisitor builds, Antonio Álvares, a merchant, sees his family and his community under threat. He sets out to organise an escape.
The historical drama is directed and written by Luís Ismael and produced by Maria Pacheco, with Pedro Laginha as António Álvares, Francisco Beatriz as Visitador Sebastião Noronha, Paulo Manso as Frederico Mocatta, Catarina Lacerda as Adelaide Álvares, Mafalda Banquart as Ana Mocatta and Hugo Olim as Abel. It runs 85 minutes and was released in April 2023. Chronologically, it comes before Ismael's Balas & Bolinhos: Só Mais Uma Coisa and 1506 - The Lisbon Genocide, both from 2024.
On IMDb, the film holds a rating of 5.7 out of 10 from 344 votes, a modest score suggesting a limited and divided response from viewers.
