Sam Bahadur

Sam Bahadur is a biographical drama about Sam Manekshaw, the Indian Army officer who rose to become the country's first Field Marshal. The film follows his long military career, including his time as Chief of the Army Staff during the 1971 Indo-Pakistani War, and traces the personal and professional life behind that role, with Vicky Kaushal in the lead. Sanya Malhotra plays his wife, Silloo Manekshaw, while Fatima Sana Shaikh appears as Indira Gandhi, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub as Yahya Khan, Edward Sonnenblick as Lord Mountbatten and Neeraj Kabi as Jawaharlal Nehru.

The film was directed by Meghna Gulzar, who wrote the screenplay with Bhavani Iyer and Shantanu Srivastava, and produced by Ronnie Screwvala. It was released in late November 2023 and runs 150 minutes. It is Gulzar's fourth feature, arriving after Just Married, Raazi and Chhapaak, and before Daayra.
