Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days

School is out, and Greg Heffley has plans for a summer of video games and time with his friend Rowley. His father, Frank, has a different idea, pushing for father-son bonding and threatening military school if Greg keeps getting into trouble. To avoid his father's plans, Greg claims he has a job at a country club, a lie that leads to mishaps and a camping trip that does not go as intended. The film is based on the Diary of a Wimpy Kid books by Jeff Kinney.

David Bowers directed, following his earlier entry in the series, Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules, and working from a screenplay by Wallace Wolodarsky and Maya Forbes. Zachary Gordon returns as Greg, with Robert Capron as Rowley, Peyton List as Holly Hills, Steve Zahn as Frank, Devon Bostick as Rodrick and Rachael Harris as Susan. The production had a budget of 22 million USD and took in 77 million USD worldwide.

On IMDb, the film holds a rating of 6.3/10 from around 34,000 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 6.4/10 from roughly 1,095 votes. A critics' rating of 5.5/10 from 73 reviews places it slightly below those audience scores. Bowers went on to direct a further installment, Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul, in 2017.
