Mugabe

Mugabe is a historical drama and action film that follows the life of a man who transforms from a prisoner into a powerful guerrilla fighter. After seizing control, he gradually evolves into a global tyrant. The story tracks his forty-year reign and concludes when his own allies take an unexpected action against him.

The film was produced by EastGate Films in Zimbabwe and directed by Robert Peters. This project was the first in a sequence of films directed by Peters, followed by Hijack '93 in 2024. The screenplay was written by Mthenjwa Vivian, Samantha Iwowo, and Nyaradzo Mutsauri, with Rogers Ofime serving as producer. The cast includes Jackie Appiah as Sally Mugabe, Dhlodhlo Charity as VP Joice Mujuru, Mzembi Charles as General Chiwenga, Adam Chasema as Chatunga B. Mugabe, Gives Chinyani as PM Cannan Banana, and Dalma Chiwereva as Mercy. A total of 29 actors and 43 crew members are credited in the production. The movie has a runtime of 120 minutes and was released on October 28, 2023.
