Silver Linings Playbook
Short description
Pat Solatano Jr., a former teacher, returns to his parents' home after spending time in a mental health facility. He is determined to rebuild his life and win back his estranged wife, even though a court order keeps him from contacting her. His father, more interested in the Philadelphia Eagles' fortunes than in his son's recovery, is doubtful about the arrangement, while his mother welcomes him without conditions. Pat's efforts take an unexpected turn when he meets Tiffany Maxwell, a young widow with troubles of her own, who offers to pass messages to his wife if he agrees to train with her for a dance competition. The arrangement slowly draws the two of them closer.
David O. Russell wrote and directed the film, the sixth in his filmography after The Fighter. Bradley Cooper plays Pat, Jennifer Lawrence plays Tiffany, Robert De Niro and Jacki Weaver appear as his parents, and Anupam Kher and Chris Tucker round out the cast.
Released in November 2012, the film was made for about 21 million dollars and earned roughly 236 million worldwide, a strong return on its budget. On IMDb it holds 7.7 out of 10 from around 771,000 votes, and on TMDB 7.2 from about 12,853 votes, indicating broad audience approval. A critics' rating of 8.2 from 260 reviews puts professional response noticeably above the audience scores.

- The Eagles games mentioned in the film take place in 2008. However, you can spot a fan wearing a jersey with the name Nnamdi Asomugha, who wasn't on the team until 2011.
- When Pat reads Nikki's message in the dance studio, the pendant around his neck is hanging in front. When he leaves and the camera changes angle, the pendant shifts to the back.
- The Eagles games mentioned in the film took place during the 2008 season, but they are not shown in the order they actually occurred.
- While Pat and Tiffany discuss Nikki's reply in Tiffany's apartment, his pendant changes position several times.
- When Pat returns home at the beginning of the film, he and his father are standing and talking, and his necklace disappears during a cut.
- The Llanerch Diner is located in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, approximately 10 miles from their homes in Ridley Park. And it's somewhat unlikely that Pat and Tiffany would walk there for their date.
- At the beginning of the film, during the scene at Lincoln Financial Field, the car carrying the actors is traveling south on I-95 as they come from the Baltimore direction. And, accordingly, the stadium should have appeared in the frame from the opposite side.
- When Tiffany tells Pat she has a letter from Nikki, at the moment she hands him the envelope, it can be seen that it is empty. But after the envelope is opened, Pat reads a letter that was supposedly inside.
- After a fight with his family, Pat has scratches on his face. The next day, during a therapy session, the scratches are still visible, but a day after that, there are no scars or even any trace of them on Pat's forehead and cheek (where the scratches were).
- At the very beginning of the film, in one of the scenes, the pendant hanging around Patrick's neck sometimes disappears and reappears.
- The film that Pat and Tiffany are watching on the latter’s iPod is “Singin’ in the Rain” (1952).

- Anne Hathaway was originally considered as Bradley Cooper's counterpart, but she left the project due to scheduling conflicts.
- Rachel McAdams, Olivia Wilde, Elizabeth Banks, Blake Lively, Rooney Mara, Kirsten Dunst, and Andrea Riseborough were considered for the lead female role, which ultimately went to Jennifer Lawrence.
- Angelina Jolie was considered for a role in the film.
- Bradley Cooper had previously auditioned for the role of Robert De Niro's son in the film 'Everybody's Fine' (2009), but did not get the part.
