Leslie Hindenberg is a high school student who mistakenly believes she has only a few weeks to live. Driven by this misunderstanding, she determines to lose her virginity before her time runs out. During her attempts, she meets a fellow student named Alan Holt who shares a similar goal. As the two navigate their experiences, their pursuit of a sexual encounter evolves into a romantic relationship.

This romantic comedy was directed by Martha Coolidge and followed her 1983 film Valley Girl in her career.
