Farha is set in Palestine in 1948, as British rule ends and tensions between Arab and Jewish communities escalate. Farha, the bright daughter of a village mayor, has persuaded her father to let her continue her education in the city, but the upheaval of the Nakba overtakes her plans. As fighting reaches her community, she is confined in a cellar, where she witnesses the destruction unfolding around her home. The film dramatizes this wider historical rupture through one young woman's experience.
The Jordanian-Swedish production was directed by Darin J. Sallam, who also wrote the screenplay; Deema Azar and Ayah Jardaneh produced it. It marked Sallam's debut feature, running 92 minutes in the drama, history and war genres. Karam Taher plays Farha, with Ashraf Barhom as Abu Farha, Ali Suliman as Abu Walid, Tala Gammoh as Farida, Sameera Asir as Myassar and Majd Eid as Saleh among a credited cast of 35.
Reception reflects a wide gap between the two audience measures. On IMDb, where roughly 91,000 users have voted, the film holds an 8 out of 10 rating, indicating strong approval from a large international audience. On TMDB, with only about 92 votes, it stands at 7.2 out of 10. The difference in vote volume means the IMDb figure carries far more weight as a measure of how viewers received the film.
