Set in England during the 1580s, this historical drama follows the relationship between William Shakespeare and Agnes, a free-spirited woman skilled in herbalism. After marrying and starting a family with three children, William moves to London to pursue his ambitions as a playwright while Agnes manages their home in Stratford-upon-Avon. The film was directed by Chloé Zhao, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Maggie O'Farrell. This production follows Zhao's previous work on The Rider, Eternals, and Nomadland. The lead roles are played by Jessie Buckley as Agnes and Paul Mescal as Will, supported by Emily Watson and Joe Alwyn. Produced by companies including Amblin Entertainment and Neal Street Productions, the film had a budget of 30 million USD and earned 108 million USD at the worldwide box office.
