The Retirement Plan

Ashley and her young daughter Sarah become entangled with a criminal organization that puts both of their lives in danger. With nowhere else to turn, Ashley seeks out her estranged father Matt, a retired beach bum living in the Cayman Islands. The reunion does not stay peaceful for long: crime boss Donnie and his associate Bobo track the family down on the island, and Ashley is drawn into an increasingly dangerous situation. She also comes to realize that her father has a past she never knew about, and that he is not the idle retiree he appears to be.

The film is a crime comedy directed by Tim Brown, who also wrote the screenplay; it followed his earlier feature, The Cradle, in 2007. Nicolas Cage plays Matt, with Ashley Greene as Ashley, Thalia Campbell as Sarah, Jackie Earle Haley as Donnie, Ron Perlman as Bobo and Ernie Hudson as Joseph. It was produced by Doug Murray, Nicholas Tabarrok and William G. Santor and runs 103 minutes.

On IMDb, the film holds a rating of 5.1 out of 10 from around 11,000 votes, while on TMDB it has a 5.8 out of 10 from roughly 350 votes. Critics gave it 5.2 out of 10 across 20 reviews, placing it close to the audience scores on both sites.
