Ride On

Ride On follows Luo Zhilong, a former stuntman whose career has faded and whose finances have collapsed. He scrapes by posing for tourists at a film studio with his aging stunt horse, Red Hare. When a relentless debt collector threatens to seize the animal and sell it at auction, Luo turns to his estranged daughter Xiaobao, a law student, and her fiancé Naihua for help. Then a video of Luo and Red Hare fighting off the collectors spreads online, turning the pair into an overnight internet sensation and giving Luo an unexpected second chance that forces him to weigh his dwindling career against his family.

Jackie Chan stars as Luo, with Liu Haocun as Xiaobao, Guo Qilin as Mickey Lu, Wu Jing, Yu Ailei and Joey Yung Jo-Yee in supporting roles. The film was directed and written by Larry Yang, produced by Victoria Hon and Jie Li, and made with 68 credited cast members across Hong Kong, mainland China and the United States. It was Yang's first feature before The Shadow's Edge.

Released in April 2023, Ride On took in about 36 million dollars worldwide, a modest return for a production of this scale. On IMDb it holds 6.3/10 from roughly 7,500 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 7.2/10 from 428 votes. A critics' rating of 5.8/10 from 33 reviews places it below both audience scores.
