Dikkenek is a Belgian-French comedy about two childhood friends in Brussels who could hardly be more different. Jean-Claude is a loud, opinionated know-it-all who never misses a chance to lecture anyone around him, while Stef is his shy, reserved opposite, a self-styled ladykiller who struggles to even get out of bed. When Stef decides he needs help finding the woman of his dreams, he turns to Jean-Claude for guidance, and the two set off through a city full of oddball characters, including a butcher who runs an abattoir, an apathetic schoolteacher, a restless young woman, a gun-loving police officer and a wealthy young man.
The film was directed by Olivier Van Hoofstadt, who wrote the screenplay with Olivier Legrain. It stars Jean-Luc Couchard as Jean-Claude, Dominique Pinon as Stef, François Damiens as Claudy, Marion Cotillard as Nadine, Mélanie Laurent as Natacha and Jérémie Renier as Greg. It runs 84 minutes.
Released in June 2006, the film has found a steady audience over the years, holding an IMDb rating of 6.8 from around 6,000 votes and a TMDB rating of 6.7 from roughly 739 votes. Those scores place it in favourable territory for a comedy of its kind.
