Bad Boys II

Bad Boys II follows Miami narcotics detectives Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett as they investigate a large shipment of Ecstasy entering the city. Their work leads them to Johnny Tapia, a Cuban drug lord whose ambitions to control Miami's trade have already set off a violent war among rival criminal groups. The case strains the partners further when Mike becomes involved with Syd, Marcus's sister, who works for the Drug Enforcement Agency.

Michael Bay directed the film, the fifth of the fifteen features he has directed in chronological order, following Pearl Harbor and preceding The Island. Ron Shelton and Jerry Stahl wrote the screenplay, and Jerry Bruckheimer produced. Will Smith and Martin Lawrence return as Lowrey and Burnett, with Jordi Mollà as Tapia, Gabrielle Union as Syd, Peter Stormare as Alexei and Theresa Randle as Theresa. The production credits list 110 cast members and 247 crew members.

Released on 18 July 2003, the film runs 146 minutes and cost about 130 million US dollars. Its worldwide box office reached roughly 273 million dollars, more than doubling its budget. On IMDb it holds 6.7 out of 10, and on TMDB it also holds 6.7 out of 10. Critics were less persuaded, giving it 4.4 out of 10 across 183 reviews, a notably lower figure than the audience scores on both sites.
