The Estate

Two sisters, Macey and Savanna, struggle with financial instability and a failing business. Upon learning that their wealthy and temperamental Aunt Hilda is terminally ill, they visit her estate to try and secure her fortune. Their goal of becoming the primary beneficiaries is complicated when they arrive to find other greedy family members, including cousins Richard and Beatrice, attempting to do the same. The siblings must navigate family rivalries to win over the difficult matriarch.

Written and directed by Dean Craig, this comedy drama is the second of three films he directed between 2020 and 2022, following Love Wedding Repeat. The movie features a cast including Toni Collette, Anna Faris, David Duchovny, Rosemarie DeWitt, Kathleen Turner, and Ron Livingston. It was produced by Sarah Jessica Parker, Alison Benson, and Marc Goldberg through a collaboration of companies from the United Kingdom and the United States.

Audience reception was mixed, with a rating of 5.3/10 on IMDb based on 6,500 votes and a score of 5.4/10 on TMDB from 131 votes. Film critics gave the movie a lower average rating of 4.3/10 based on 31 reviews.
