Violet & Daisy

Violet and Daisy are two teenage girls who work as contract killers, treating their assignments as a way to earn money for the things they want. Their latest job looks straightforward: a wealthy man named Michael is the target, and the girls expect to carry it out quickly. Michael turns out to be unlike the victims they are used to, and his reaction forces the pair to rethink the task and their partnership.

Geoffrey Fletcher directed and wrote the film, which was released in 2013. It was his first time behind the camera after writing the screenplay for Precious, and he also produced alongside John Penotti and Bonnie Timmermann. Saoirse Ronan plays Daisy and Alexis Bledel plays Violet, with James Gandolfini as Michael. Marianne Jean-Baptiste, Danny Trejo and Tatiana Maslany appear in supporting roles. The production had a budget of about 8 million dollars, and the film runs 88 minutes, mixing action and crime with comedy and drama.

Reception was mixed. On TMDB it holds a rating of 6.1 out of 10 from roughly 290 votes, while critics gave it 4.8 out of 10 across 49 reviews, a lower figure than the audience score.
