Shatter is a 1974 action crime thriller made as a British and Hong Kong co-production. Stuart Whitman plays the title character, an international contract killer who carries out a job in Africa and then travels to Hong Kong to collect his payment from a bank. Instead of the money, he finds himself under attack, and the bank claims to know nothing about the arrangement. From there he is caught between criminal organisations and foreign intelligence services, all competing over something he was never meant to understand. Two local figures, a martial arts teacher played by Ti Lung and a woman played by Lily Li, come to his aid, while Peter Cushing appears as Paul Rattwood and Anton Diffring as Hans Leber.
The film was directed by Michael Carreras and Monte Hellman. For Carreras it came after Blood from the Mummy's Tomb in 1971, and for Hellman it followed Two-Lane Blacktop in 1971 and preceded Iguana in 1988. Don Houghton wrote the screenplay, and Carreras produced with Vee King Shaw for Hammer Film Productions, Shaw Brothers and AVCO Embassy Pictures. The credited cast runs to 34 names, and the film lasts 90 minutes.
On TMDB it holds a rating of 5.6 out of 10 from 27 votes, a low score from a small sample.
