A Farewell To Cinema is a Ukrainian documentary exploring the shift in post-Soviet society as people moved away from cinema to embrace the free market. The film examines the cultural abandonment of filmmaking during this transition period.
Directed by Izrail Goldshtein and written by Yurii Alikov, the project was produced by the Ukrainian News and Documentary Film Studio. The 30-minute film features appearances by Yurii Illienko, Timur Zoloyev, Vitalii Filippov, Stanislav Chernilevskyi, Ivan Havryliuk, and Oleksandr Koval, all appearing as themselves. It was released on June 1, 1995.
