The Fish Tale

The Fish Tale is a Japanese comedy and drama about Meebo, a young boy with an intense fascination with fish. From his time in primary school, he spends his days drawing, observing, and eating fish. While his father worries that Meebo is different from other children, his mother provides constant warmth and encouragement. This obsession continues into his high school years. As he eventually moves out to live on his own, Meebo navigates various encounters and relationships, including an unusual connection with thieves, while remaining supported by those around him.

Directed by Shuichi Okita, this project is the second film in the director's career, following A Story of Yonosuke and preceding Satoko Always. The screenplay was written by Okita and Shiro Maeda.
