A Walk in the Clouds

A Walk in the Clouds follows Paul Sutton, an American soldier returning from the Second World War. On his way back he meets Victoria Aragón, a young woman travelling home to her family's vineyard. She is pregnant and unmarried, and she dreads facing her strict father, so Paul agrees to pose as her husband for a short visit. The arrangement grows complicated as the two develop real feelings for each other, while her father grows suspicious of the stranger who has appeared at his estate.

Alfonso Arau directed the film, his second feature after Like Water for Chocolate. Keanu Reeves plays Paul, Aitana Sánchez-Gijón plays Victoria, and Anthony Quinn appears as her father, Don Pedro, with Angélica Aragón, Evangelina Elizondo and Debra Messing in supporting roles. The screenplay was written by Robert Mark Kamen, Mark Miller and Harvey Weitzman, and the film was produced by Jerry Zucker, David Zucker and Gil Netter for 20th Century Fox and Zucker Brothers Productions.

Released in 1995, the film runs 103 minutes. Made for a budget of 20 million dollars, it took about 50 million dollars worldwide. On IMDb it holds a rating of 6.7 from roughly 36,000 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 7.4 from a much smaller number of votes, indicating a warmer response from that audience.
