A Singaporean widow who lives with her son and spends her days watching Korean television dramas decides to travel to South Korea on her own after he backs out of their planned tour. Her first trip abroad takes her away from her routine and into a country that differs from what she has seen on screen. Comedy and drama follow as she copes with unexpected situations and new acquaintances along the way.
Ajoomma is a 2022 Singaporean and Korean co-production directed by He Shuming, who wrote the screenplay with Kris Ong. It was produced by Anthony Chen, whose involvement is noted in the film's credits. The cast is led by Hong Huifang as the auntie, alongside Kang Hyung-suk, Jeong Dong-hwan and Shane Pow, with Yeo Jin-goo appearing as himself and Han Yeo-reum as an immigration officer; twenty-one cast members are credited.
The film runs 90 minutes and was released in October 2022. On IMDb it holds a rating of 6.8 from 458 votes, while on TMDB it has a rating of 6.9 from 17 votes. The two audience scores are close to each other, indicating generally consistent viewer appreciation across both platforms, though the much smaller number of votes on TMDB makes that figure less representative.
