The Edge of the Blade

Set in Paris in 1887, the story follows Clément Lacaze, a master of arms, and Marie-Rose Astié, a feminist advocate for women's equality. In a society where duels are used to defend personal honor despite official prohibitions, the two form an alliance. Clément teaches Marie-Rose the art of fencing so she can confront her detractors, while he deals with the consequences of violence and the loss of his nephew in a fight against Colonel Berchère. Together, they navigate a series of conflicts to restore their reputations.

The historical drama was directed by Vincent Perez, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Karine Silla. This production marks the second feature film directed by Perez, following Alone in Berlin. The cast is led by Roschdy Zem as Clément Lacaze and Doria Tillier as Marie-Rose Astié de Valsayre, with Perez appearing as Louis Berchère.
