Hard Luck

Hard Luck follows a former criminal named Lucky who attempts to leave his illegal past behind and live an honest life. His efforts are derailed when he attends a gangster's birthday party, leading him into a violent conflict involving corrupt police officers. After escaping the event with a dancer and a large sum of money, Lucky becomes the target of a dangerous game of cat and mouse. The plot intertwines his flight with other figures, including a sadistic housewife and a serial killer.

The film was directed by Mario Van Peebles, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Larry Brand. This project was the fifth film in Van Peebles' directing career, following Baadasssss! and preceding Red Sky. The movie stars Wesley Snipes in the lead role, alongside Jackie Quinones, Cybill Shepherd, James Hiroyuki Liao, Aubrey Dollar, and Kevin Thoms.

Produced by Junction Films with a budget of 12 million USD, the production featured a credited cast of 36 people. Audience reception was mixed, with the film receiving a 5.2 rating on IMDb from 3,500 votes and a 5.5 rating on TMDB from 81 votes.
