The Last Men

Set in early 1945, this war drama follows a group of French legionnaires after a violent Japanese offensive against garrisons in the Far East. Suffering from tropical illnesses and alcohol addiction, the remaining soldiers must trek through dense jungle to reach allied bases in China while avoiding enemy pursuit.

Directed by David Oelhoffen, this production is the second of three films he has directed, following Close Enemies and preceding The 4th Wall. The screenplay was written by Jacques Perrin, David Oelhoffen, and Christophe Cheysson. The cast features Guido Caprino as Lemiotte, Andrzej Chyra as Adjudant Janiçki, Nuno Lopes as Caporal Lisbonne, Wim Willaert as Mathusalem, Francesco Casisa as Pepelucci dit Musso, and Axel Granberger as Karlson.

A joint effort between France and Belgium, the film was produced by Versus Production, Galatée Films, and Tandem.
