The Siege

After American forces secretly seize a suspected terrorist leader from his Middle Eastern homeland, New York City becomes the target of a bombing campaign. Anthony Hubbard, who heads the FBI's joint anti-terrorism task force, pursues those responsible, working alongside Elise Kraft, a CIA operative with sources inside the city's Arab communities. As the attacks continue, the government declares martial law and sends in the military under Major-General William Devereaux, whose methods bring Hubbard and Kraft into conflict with the Army as well as with the bombers.

Edward Zwick directed and co-wrote the film with Menno Meyjes and Lawrence Wright. It followed Courage Under Fire in Zwick's filmography, his fifth feature, and was produced by Lynda Obst and Zwick. Denzel Washington plays Hubbard, with Annette Bening as Elise Kraft, Bruce Willis as Devereaux, and supporting turns from Tony Shalhoub, Sami Bouajila and Aasif Mandvi.

The film cost around 70 million dollars and took roughly 117 million dollars worldwide. On IMDb it holds 6.4 out of 10 from about 83,000 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 6.3 from a much smaller base of 1,552 votes. A critics' rating of 6.2 from 61 reviews places it slightly below the audience scores.
