Short description
Wrong Turn follows a group of young travellers whose journey through West Virginia comes to a halt when a detour and a collision leave them stranded deep in the woods. Searching for help, they come upon a remote house in the mountains whose contents are far worse than anything they expected. They soon realise that they are not lost by chance and that three disfigured, inbred mountain men are hunting them as prey.
The film was directed by Rob Schmidt, his first feature and the earlier of the two titles he has directed, from a screenplay by Alan B. McElroy. Eliza Dushku plays Jessie Burlingame, Desmond Harrington plays Chris Flynn, and Emmanuelle Chriqui, Jeremy Sisto, Kevin Zegers and Lindy Booth appear among the stranded group. It was produced by Robert Kulzer, Erik Feig and Brian J. Gilbert, with 20th Century Fox, Regency Enterprises, Summit Entertainment and Constantin Film among the companies behind it.
Released in May 2003, the horror thriller runs 84 minutes and was made for about 13 million US dollars, going on to take roughly 29 million worldwide. On IMDb it holds 6.1 out of 10 from around 145,000 votes, and on TMDB 6.4 out of 10 from a much smaller number of votes. A critics' rating of 4.6 out of 10 from 84 reviews places it below both audience scores.

- Emmanuelle Chriqui dislocated her shoulder while performing a fall through trees.
- Eliza Dushku performed almost all of the stunt work herself.
- The full version of the film has a runtime of 95 minutes.
- In the initial version of the script, the characters were around 30 years old. However, it was decided to make them younger so that the target audience could identify with the characters.
- During the filming of one of the final scenes, Eliza Dushku accidentally set Julian Richings, who played Three-Finger, on fire.
- Many actors and crew members suffered from poison ivy, as they did not immediately recognize the plant where the equipment was placed.
- In one scene, Desmond Harrington broke his right kneecap. This significantly complicated filming. According to the plot, his left leg was shot, so he was forced to bear all his weight on his injured right leg.
- The main character, Jessie Berlingame, was named after the heroine of Stephen King’s novel 'Gerald's Game'.
