I, the Executioner

Detective Seo Do-cheol leads the violent crimes unit, a team that pursues criminals relentlessly and often at the expense of their personal lives. When a professor's murder turns out to be connected to earlier cases, suspicion grows that a serial killer is at work, and the country is thrown into confusion. The killer taunts the investigators by announcing a coming victim online, raising the pressure further. To confront the escalating threat, the unit brings in the idealistic young officer Park Sun-woo, and his arrival sends the case in unexpected directions.

I, the Executioner is a Korean action, comedy and crime film directed by Ryoo Seung-wan, who wrote the screenplay with Lee Won-jae. It follows Veteran from 2015 in his filmography and precedes Humint from 2026. Hwang Jung-min plays Seo Do-cheol, with Jung Hae-in as Park Sun-woo and supporting turns from Oh Dal-su, Oh Dae-hwan, Jang Yoon-ju and Kim Shi-hoo. The production credits 38 cast members and 40 crew members.

Released in September 2024, the film took about 53 million dollars worldwide. On IMDb it holds 6.3 out of 10 from roughly 2,700 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 7 out of 10 from around a hundred votes. A critics' rating of 7.5 out of 10 from 15 reviews places it above the audience score on IMDb.
