The Lyricist Wannabe

The Lyricist Wannabe is a drama and music film about Law Wing-sze, a woman who views writing Cantopop lyrics as a natural gift and seeks to turn this passion into a lifelong career. Despite her efforts to improve her craft and build professional connections, she faces constant obstacles that hinder her progress. This autobiographical tragicomedy explores the idea that ambition and desire do not always guarantee the fulfillment of one's dreams.

The film was written and directed by Norris Wong Yee-Lam, marking the first in a series of projects that include Tales of Taipei, Table Read, and Good Trip. It stars Chung Suet-ying in the lead role as Law Wing-sze; notably, the actress is a professional Cantopop lyricist in real life. The supporting cast includes Amy Tang Lai-Ying, Anson Chan, Eric Kot Man-Fai, Luna Shaw, and Ernest Poon.

Produced by Sonatina Film Limited, this Hong Kong and Taiwan co-production has a runtime of 110 minutes. It follows the director's debut feature, My Prince Edward.
