What's left behind the scenes
- In real life, Lauren Graham is 14 years older than her on-screen daughter, Alexis Bledel.
- Unlike her character Rory, actress Alexis Bledel cannot stand coffee. Whenever the series shows her drinking coffee, she is actually sipping Coca-Cola.
- It was initially intended that Scott Patterson would only appear in the pilot episode; however, he and Lauren Graham worked so well together that he signed on for three more episodes and eventually became a series regular.
- Liz Weil originally auditioned for the role of Rory but didn't get it. However, the producers liked her so much that they cast her as Paris.
