What's left behind the scenes
- The character of Abdulov, played by Anastasia Melnikova, was a man in the novella 'The Double.' Vladimir Bortko suggested changing the gender of the character.
- In 2006, the 'Streets of Broken Lights' project entered the Guinness World Records as the longest-running Russian series.
- The TV channel RTR was originally the client for the series, but at that time, the channel began experiencing problems with debts for the dubbing of 'Santa Barbara'; consequently, the rights to 'Streets of Broken Lights' were transferred to the TNT-Teleset channel in 1997. Ultimately, the series began airing on January 4, 1998. Later, ORT bought the first season. They placed the series in prime time and aired it starting in early October 1998.
- Unlike the other operatives, who have real-life prototypes, the character of Andrei Larin is a composite image.
- Filming began on October 25, 1995. The first episode of the series was titled 'Nightmare on C Street'.
- Almost all locations for the first episodes were on the Petrograd Side, near Lenfilm, as the budget was minimal.
