Short description

Crank up the 8-track and flash back to a time when platform shoes and puka shells were all the rage in this hilarious retro-sitcom. For Eric, Kelso, Jackie, Hyde, Donna and Fez, a group of high school teens who spend most of their time hanging out in Eric’s basement, life in the ‘70s isn’t always so groovy. But between trying to figure out the meaning of life, avoiding their parents, and dealing with out-of-control hormones, they’ve learned one thing for sure: they’ll always get by with a little help from their friends.

What's left behind the scenes

  • During its initial broadcasts on FOX, the series did not have an opening sequence; it was introduced starting with the DVD version.
  • The only new show of the 1998-1999 television season on FOX that was not canceled by the end of the season.
  • Mila Kunis was only 14 years old when the first season was released.
  • The series takes place in the fictional town of Point Place, Wisconsin. The only actor born in that state is Curtwood Smith, who played the role of Red.
  • The character Tommy Chong is absent from seasons 5 and 6 because the actor was imprisoned for drug possession. When Chong served his sentence, he was pleasantly surprised to find that the show's creators had not written him out of the plot, but instead offered him a return as a series regular.
  • Over eight seasons, it was never mentioned which country Fez came from.
  • The episodes of the fifth season are named after Led Zeppelin songs, the sixth after The Who, the seventh after The Rolling Stones, and the episodes of the eighth are named after songs by Queen.
  • David Trainer directed every episode of the series except for the pilot. This is a great rarity for American television, where almost every episode is handled by different directors.
  • Chuck Norris could have played Red Forman, but he was busy filming the series 'Walker, Texas Ranger' (1993-2001).
