What's left behind the scenes
- Although mountains can be seen in some episodes, there are none in the actual Pensacola.
- The title of the TV series refers to the patches worn by American pilots, which are shaped like golden wings. Student pilots are usually called "nuggets," while those who have completed their training and earned their "wings" are called "golden."
- The TV series was filmed at an active military base.
- After meeting for the first time on the set of the TV series, actors Sandra Hess and Michael Trucco announced their engagement.
