Dead Man Down
Short description
Victor works as the right-hand man to Alphonse, a crime boss in New York City, but he has his own reasons for being inside the organization: the deaths of his wife and daughter, which he intends to avenge. His plans grow more complicated when he becomes involved with Beatrice, a woman who lives in the building across from his and who has suffered a crime of her own. She draws him into her own pursuit of revenge against Alphonse, and the two of them move toward a violent reckoning.
Dead Man Down was released in 2013. Niels Arden Oplev directed it, working from a screenplay by J.H. Wyman; it followed Oplev's 2009 film The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo in his directing career, and Colin Farrell and Noomi Rapace lead a cast that also includes Terrence Howard, Dominic Cooper, Isabelle Huppert and Luis Da Silva Jr.
The production had a budget of 30 million USD and took in about 20 million USD worldwide. On IMDb the film holds a critics' rating of 5.1/10 from 106 reviews, while on TMDB it has a rating of 6.2/10 from 1,602 votes, so viewers there rated it somewhat higher than the professional reviewers did.
