Ama is a young girl living in the Netherlands who identifies as Dutch despite being the daughter of asylum seekers from Senegal. When her mother and brother are arrested, she wanders through Rotterdam during the winter to find her father and escape deportation. Accompanied by a giant porcupine acting as a totem animal, she explores her heritage during her journey.
The family drama was directed by Sander Burger, marking his third feature film following Olivier etc. and The Judgement. This production was a collaboration between companies in Germany, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands Antilles. The film has a runtime of 93 minutes.
