Private Romeo

At an isolated military high school in the United States, eight male cadets are left behind while others are away. As they study Romeo and Juliet in class, the themes of the play begin to mirror their own experiences. Two students, Sam and Glenn, develop a romantic connection despite belonging to opposing groups within the school. The students use the original text of the play to express their feelings, leading to a conflict that explores masculinity and homosexuality within the rigid environment of the armed forces.

Directed and written by Alan Brown, this was the first of two films he directed, followed by Other People's Bodies in 2025. The cast features Seth Numrich as Sam, Matt Doyle as Glen, Hale Appleman as Josh, Charlie Barnett as Ken, Chris Bresky as Omar, and Sean Hudock as Gus. Produced by Wolfe Releasing, the movie has a runtime of 97 minutes. Audience reception is mixed, with a rating of 6/10 from 2,500 votes on IMDb and a slightly lower score of 5.5/10 from 62 votes on TMDB.
