Pusher II

Tonny has just been released from prison and is determined to turn his life around. Returning to Copenhagen, he tries to find work with his father, Smeden, a gangster who runs a stolen-car operation and has never thought much of his son. Tonny's efforts to win the man's respect keep backfiring, and he ends up owing him money he cannot repay. A deal with an acquaintance known as Kusse Kurt only lands him in deeper debt, while he also learns that a woman he once knew believes he is the father of her child.

The film is the second installment in director Nicolas Winding Refn's Pusher trilogy, following the 1996 original and preceded by Bleeder and Fear X. Refn wrote and produced it with Henrik Danstrup, and Mads Mikkelsen leads the cast as Tonny, alongside Leif Sylvester as Smeden, Anne Sørensen as Charlotte, Kurt Nielsen as Kusse Kurt, Øyvind Hagen-Traberg and Karsten Schrøder.

Released in December 2004, the crime drama runs 100 minutes and places a large ensemble behind the camera as well as in front of it. Its reputation has held up over two decades: on IMDb it holds a 7.3 rating from roughly 29,000 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 7.2 from a much smaller pool of around 550 users. The broad agreement between the two audiences, and the volume of votes behind the higher one, indicate a durable following rather than a passing response.
