Short description
Alex and Tess are a married couple navigating a divorce while managing the shared upbringing of their two sons. As they adjust to living apart, Alex seeks a new sense of purpose through stand-up comedy in New York City, while Tess, a former athlete, returns to volleyball as a coach and reflects on the sacrifices she made for her family. Together, they struggle with their individual identities and whether their relationship can evolve into a different kind of love.
Directed by Bradley Cooper, this project is the third film in his directing career, following A Star Is Born and Maestro. Cooper also served as a producer and co-writer, appearing in the cast alongside Will Arnett and Laura Dern. - The film's plot was inspired by the life story of comedian John Bishop. Will Arnett met him by chance in Amsterdam, heard about his journey in the world of stand-up comedy, and wanted to make a film about it.
