Takaki and Akari form a close bond during elementary school in 1991. Despite their connection, they are separated when Akari moves away, though they continue to communicate through letters. Before losing contact, the two make a promise to reunite in the future. By 2008, Takaki is a programmer in Tokyo living a monotonous life. While he and Akari have pursued separate paths over the years, they both remain influenced by their childhood memories and the anticipation of their promised meeting.

Directed by Yoshiyuki Okuyama, this drama and romance follows his previous works, At the Bench and At the Bench: Episode 2 ‘Sushi Doesn’t Go Round’. The film was produced by TOHO, Fuji Television Network, CoMix Wave Films, and Spoon, with a screenplay written by Ayako Suzuki. The cast features Hokuto Matsumura in the role of Takaki Tohno, Mitsuki Takahata as Akari Shinohara, Yuzu Aoki as the teenage version of Takaki, and Nana Mori as Kanae Sumida.
