The Internship

Two salesmen in their forties, Billy McMahon and Nick Campbell, lose their jobs when the companies they work for are overtaken by the digital world. Hoping to prove they can still compete, the longtime friends talk their way into internships at Google. There they join a team of college students and must hold their own against younger, more technically skilled rivals, with a permanent job as the prize. The comedy follows their attempt to adapt to a workplace whose rules, managers and culture belong to a generation half their age.

Shawn Levy directed the film, the ninth of the seventeen he has directed in chronological order, arriving between Real Steel and This Is Where I Leave You. Vince Vaughn stars as Billy and shares screenplay credit with Jared Stern; Vaughn and Levy also produced. Owen Wilson plays Nick, with Rose Byrne, Aasif Mandvi, Max Minghella and Josh Brener among the main cast, part of a credited cast of 114 and crew of 88. Made for a budget of 58 million US dollars, it took in about 94 million worldwide, a modest return. On IMDb it holds 6.3 out of 10 from roughly 227,000 votes, and on TMDB 6.2 out of 10 from about 4,580 votes, while a critics' rating stands at 4.9 out of 10 from 167 reviews, below the audience scores.
