Soodhu Kavvum

Dass makes his living through small-scale kidnappings, working by a strict set of rules. The most important of these is to stay away from influential people. Three unemployed young men meet him, and together they accept a job offering a large sum of money. Taking it means breaking Dass's central rule, and the four soon find themselves pursued by a fearsome police officer. The Tamil-language comedy thriller Soodhu Kavvum, released in May 2013, runs 138 minutes and was written and directed by Nalan Kumarasamy.

The film was the first feature Kumarasamy directed, followed by X: Past Is Present in 2015, Kadhalum Kadanthu Pogum in 2016 and Vaa Vaathiyaar in 2026. Vijay Sethupathi plays Dass, with Bobby Simha, Ashok Selvan, Ramesh Thilak, Karunakaran and M. S. Bhaskar in supporting roles. C. V. Kumar produced through Studio Green and Thirukumaran Entertainment.

On IMDb, the film holds an 8.3 rating from around 13,000 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 7.1 from a much smaller base of about 70 votes. The gap suggests a strong and widely expressed response from the larger audience sample, with the far smaller group giving a more moderate score.
