• The film's screenplay is based on Kate Snell's book "Diana: Her Last Love".
• The jewelry brand Chopard officially presented a collection of jewelry that was used during the filming of the movie. The pieces almost exactly recreate iconic jewelry worn by Princess Diana at important events.
• Posters for the film were accidentally placed on Place Alma in Paris, near the entrance to the tunnel where the princess died in a car crash in 1997. The placement of the posters caused a storm of public outrage, and they were eventually removed at the request of the French distributor Le Pacte.
• Jessica Chastain could have played the role of Princess Diana, but left the project due to a scheduling conflict.
• Key scenes of Diana and Dodi Al Fayed relaxing on his family yacht were filmed on the 45-meter luxury yacht 'Princess Yolanda'. The opening and closing scenes in the presidential suite of the Paris Ritz hotel were filmed at 'Fetcham Park House' in Surrey.
• During a Red Cross mission in 1996, Diana is driven in a Land Cruiser 100, which was released in 1998. A Range Rover Sport, released in 2005, is also visible in one scene.
