Eungyo

Eungyo centres on Lee Jeok-yo, a celebrated poet in his seventies who lives quietly and relies on Seo Ji-woo, a former student of his now in his thirties, for everyday help. Their settled routine is disturbed when a seventeen-year-old high school girl, Han Eun-gyo, comes into their lives. The old man's feelings for her revive something he thought was behind him, while his assistant watches the growing closeness between poet and girl with unease and resentment. The three are drawn into a situation that none of them controls.

The film is a drama with romantic elements, written and directed by Jung Ji-woo, who also produced it with An Eun-mi and Lee Sang-hyun. It is his second feature, arriving between Happy End in 1999 and Tune in for Love in 2019. Park Hae-il plays the poet, Kim Moo-yul the assistant and Kim Go-eun the schoolgirl, with supporting turns from Jeong Man-sik, Park Chul-hyeon and Jang Yun-sil. It was released in April 2012 and took about 9 million US dollars worldwide.

Audience scores place the film in moderate territory: on IMDb it holds 6.6 out of 10 from roughly 3,000 votes, and on TMDB 6.7 out of 10 from around 104 votes.
