Barb Wire

Barb Wire is set in a United States torn apart by a second civil war, in the year 2017. Steel Harbor has stayed neutral, and in that city Barbara Kopetski runs a nightclub called the Hammerhead. Known as Barb Wire, she supports herself and her blind younger brother Charlie by working as a bounty hunter and keeping her distance from both sides of the conflict. Her position becomes harder when Axel Hood, a man from her past, arrives asking for help getting a scientist, Dr. Corrina Devonshire, across the border into Canada. Devonshire carries information about a biological weapon, and the government forces hunting her are willing to use brutal methods to stop her. Barb's refusal to get involved does not hold once the pursuit reaches her own bar and her family.

The film is based on the Dark Horse comic, and David Hogan directed it as the first of the two features listed for him, followed by Most Wanted a year later. Chuck Pfarrer and Ilene Chaiken wrote the screenplay, and Pamela Anderson leads a cast that includes Temuera Morrison, Victoria Rowell, Jack Noseworthy, Udo Kier and Steve Railsback. It was released in May 1996.

Made for about 9 million dollars, the film returned roughly 4 million worldwide. On IMDb it holds 3.6 out of 10 from around 33,000 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 4.1 from about 500 votes. Critics gave it 4 out of 10 across 36 reviews, a figure close to the audience scores.
