Marvel One-Shot: Item 47 is a short film set in the aftermath of the Battle of New York seen in The Avengers. S.H.I.E.L.D. has gathered up the alien technology left behind in the city, but one Chitauri weapon goes unaccounted for. A young couple, Claire Wise and Bennie Pollack, find the device, and rather than hand it over, they put it to use robbing banks. Two S.H.I.E.L.D. agents are sent to track them down and recover what has come to be known as Item 47.
The short runs twelve minutes and was directed by Louis D'Esposito, who had previously worked within Marvel Studios as a producer. It was his first directing credit, and he went on to direct the 2013 short Marvel One-Shot: Agent Carter. Eric Pearson wrote the screenplay, and Kevin Feige produced. The cast includes Lizzy Caplan as Claire, Jesse Bradford as Bennie, Maximiliano Hernández as Agent Jasper Sitwell, and Titus Welliver as Felix Blake. It was released in 2012 as part of Marvel Studios' series of One-Shot short films.
On IMDb it holds a 6.6 rating from around fourteen thousand votes, while on TMDB it sits at 6.4 from a much smaller base of roughly six hundred and fifty. The two scores are close, suggesting a modest but consistent reception among those who have seen it.
