Step Brothers

Step Brothers is a comedy about two men in their late thirties who have never left home. Brennan Huff lives with his mother, Nancy, while Dale Doback lives with his father, Robert. When Nancy and Robert meet, fall in love and marry, the two new stepbrothers are forced to share a house and a bedroom. Neither is willing to give up the comfortable life he has known, and their rivalry quickly turns into open competition that puts pressure on their parents' marriage. What begins as hostility eventually gives way to something closer to friendship.

The film is directed by Adam McKay and was released in 2008, placing it between Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby and The Other Guys in his filmography. McKay wrote the screenplay with Will Ferrell, who plays Brennan; John C. Reilly plays Dale, with Richard Jenkins and Mary Steenburgen as their parents, and Adam Scott and Kathryn Hahn in supporting roles. Judd Apatow and Jimmy Miller produced.

Made for a budget of 65 million dollars, the film took 128 million dollars worldwide. On IMDb it holds 6.9 out of 10 from roughly 340,000 votes, and on TMDB 6.6 out of 10 from about 3,500 votes, while the critics' rating stands at 5.6 out of 10 from 200 reviews. Audience scores are therefore noticeably higher than the critical one.
