A Late Quartet

A New York string quartet is preparing to mark twenty-five years together when its cellist and founder learns he has Parkinson's disease. The diagnosis forces him to consider stepping back, and the news unsettles the arrangement and balance among the four musicians. Long-standing resentments, professional jealousy and personal entanglements surface, threatening both the group's future and the friendships behind it. As the anniversary concert approaches, which may be their last performance together, the members must decide whether their shared history and their music can hold them together.

The film is directed by Yaron Zilberman, who wrote the screenplay with Seth Grossman. It was released in 2012 and runs 106 minutes. The credited cast numbers twenty-one. Produced by Vanessa Coifman, Emanuel Michael and David Faigenblum, the film took about 6 million dollars worldwide, a modest return for a drama of this scale.
