In a world where humanity has been wiped out by the machines it created, a small rag doll wakes up alone and discovers that others like him are hiding in fear. The nine stitchpunk figures each carry a number and a distinct character, and they have spent their existence avoiding the mechanical beasts that still hunt them. The newest of the group, known as 9, refuses to accept a life of hiding and pushes his companions to confront the threat instead of waiting to be destroyed. Their search for answers about why the machines pursue them so relentlessly leads them beyond their refuge, and what they find places the survival of what remains of civilization in their hands.
